Students at Kikaaya College decided we should impersonate people in the mural we were painting on the school wall. Here we are doing the "abstinence jump." Check out Amanda's fliker account for more photos.

Students Painting, Kikaaya Student HIV/AIDS Mural Project

Students Painting, Kikaaya Student HIV/AIDS Mural Project, originally uploaded by amanda.milholland.
On August 3rd, 2008 KACCAD and Kikaaya College finished an HIV/AIDS focused mural at the Kikaaya College in Kikaaya Village. The project was sponsored by students from Blue Herron Middle School in Port Townsend, WA, USA. The mural, which focuses on HIV/AIDS transmission and prevention, was designed by Okoche Gilbert, a senior six student from Kikaaya College. Students from Kikaaya worked with KACCAD volunteers to graph the design on the wall and than paint it. About 20 students representing all classes worked with us to finish the drawing and painting in just three days. It was a really fun project through which students learned how to enlarge an image using graphing techniques, mix colors, choose colors that complement each other and more. It was an empowering project for both experienced artists and novices alike. KACCAD sincerely thanks Blue Heron Middle School and Kikaaya College students for making this beautiful project happen. Thank you for your work!
